International Yoga Day

“To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself.”

Just as we sometimes fall in the midst of mastering a pose, there are times in life that we will fall as we dare to discover deeper truths. However, I believe the loss of one’s footing provides an opportunity to get back stronger and wiser than before.

As today is International Yoga Day, I wanted to speak on how this practice has impacted my life. I started practicing more frequently during quarantine with extra time and heightened anxiety, I thought it was an optimal time to dive deeper into such a powerful practice. As I practice yoga, I am guided towards a deeper sense of awareness. Some of the benefits I have experienced include greater self-acceptance, patience, and decreased anxiety. I am a firm believer that all actions are projections of self. Therefore, by implementing this practice, I have found greater acceptance and patience towards others.

By looking at the root of oneself and examining internal beliefs, one can have a greater understanding of others and an increased sense of unity that the world so desperately needs during this time. This year’s theme is “Yoga for Health – Yoga at Home,” so I encourage you to give yoga a try and see how it makes you feel! Namaste.
