This too Shall Pass

I’ve always enjoyed the multitude of metaphors that directly connect nature with emotion. Previously, I wrote about the Calmness in the Storm as it pertains to the emotional dichotomy of the fear during difficulties with the calmness that occurs during times of reflection. A few weeks ago, I had a moment of reflection. The day was filled with twists and turns. I woke up feeling a gentle calmness as my mornings are always accompanied with activities that replenish my soul. I had a nice breakfast, went through some emails, meditated, and then journaled. We approached the beach and headed back after some unexpected storm hit our pathes. I went back to the house waiting for it to pass over and, eventually, ventured back out. The beach was calm and the sun was slowly starting to fade so I checked the weather which showed a 50% chance of thunder; soon after the rumbling of the sky embodied fear as many of the lifeguards signaled for the people to leave the beach. I chose to stay and stick it out as it looked as if it would quickly pass. When the rain fell, it felt like a sweet release.

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.  Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever.  So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.  For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4: 17-18

Shortly, after the storm passed. This reminded me of the saying, “this too shall pass.” It seems that when the good situations occur, one soaks up the sunshine. Then the storm hits and the panic sets in. After, things mellow out leaving a sense of calm. It’s normal to be scared and fearful yet so important to hold onto our faith throughout the journey. I have come to learn God will always use difficult times to teach you a lesson. When the sky is grey, look for the silver lining, feel your emotions, and enhance the beauty of uncertainty; just like plants, we need both rain and sun to fully develop and grow into who we are meant to become.

  1. The divine is in everyone and everything,
After the winter comes the spring…
Bells of joy start to ring
And birds , in the sky , fly and sing
    A flying bird has a wing ,
Every creation is like a king …
See that your spirit can have joy like a child in a swing…

  2. Heeeeeeeeeey Kiki! I haven’t seen any posts from you in a while. This was a really nice read. Definitely need to hang onto that faith during those greys. This too will pass indeed. A sunny reminder.😊 <3
