2020 Reflection

“Maybe this cage has been a cocoon all along.”

2020 brought so many changes, both from a personal and societal perspective. Quarantine created a feeling of isolation, leading many people alone with their thoughts. Throughout this year, many unexpected events occurred. 2020 brought canceled plans, adjustments to pre-existing plans, and the need to accept what I could not change. Despite my lack of ability to navigate to new environments, I gained exposure to many new experiences. I connected with many amazing people, allowing for a multitude of opportunities that are currently manifesting. I sat in stillness and observed my thoughts, learning more about who I am. As a result, I found greater connectivity with others while acknowledging the power of projection and self-awareness. I was forced to let go of my rigid nature of planning and surrender to the ebb and flow of unexpected circumstances. I grew closer to certain people who brought happiness to my heart. I had to release what weighed me down to fly. With these internal changes came changes to my perception of my external circumstances. As 2021 arrives, I am working to implement the knowledge I gained throughout 2020, finding inner peace and gratitude every step of the way.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

  1. Your opening quote gives me a lot to think about. The thousands of additional moments of reflection proved to be a blessing to me in 2020. My prayer is that I take some new habits into 2021. Have a blessed new year!
