People ask me, “How are you?” and the answer I continuously provide is that, “My life seems to be falling apart and coming together at the same time.” Twenty-Two was quite the rollercoaster with a lot of unexpected screams as I flew down a hill of overwhelming fear and then jerked upwards when a thrill... “Maybe this cage has been a cocoon all along.” 2020 brought so many changes, both from a personal and societal perspective. Quarantine created a feeling of isolation, leading many people alone with their thoughts. Throughout this year, many unexpected events occurred. 2020 brought canceled plans, adjustments to pre-existing plans, and the need to accept what... Continue Reading →
T'was the night before Christmas. My mind in a scurry, hurrying to finish up the tedious tasks while remaining sane. I pour some hot cocoa from the stove, add some coconut whip and finish it off with some pumpkin spice. Surrounding me is a tiny Christmas tree, colored pencils, and a blank paper waiting to... I've always enjoyed the multitude of metaphors that directly connect nature with emotion. Previously, I wrote about the Calmness in the Storm as it pertains to the emotional dichotomy of the fear during difficulties with the calmness that occurs during times of reflection. A few weeks ago, I had a moment of reflection. The day was... Continue Reading →
A common saying is April Showers Bring May Flowers and boy did April bring some rainy days. I cried a lot more than normal this month. Shedding old memories and the death of self-sabotaging behaviors as I embraced the discomfort that accompanies the growth process. My times were filled with yoga, journaling, and maintaining and... I’ve always found peace in the rain and its many pleasures clearing the old tension, washing away one sin, and heightening the emotional release of Mother Earth. They say emotions come in waves. Sometimes they rush in with no warning and, shortly after, escape back into the sea for a quick bit as you become engulfed in daily distraction. At this time, the Moon's gravity can be equated to God's love as He is pulling us towards Him. Just like the moon,... Continue Reading →
This post is a recommended read! As someone who is majoring in psychology, I have taken classes that focus specifically on gender differences as a result of societal expectations and how harmful these expectations can be. I absolutely love creating an atmosphere that openly discusses the impact that “masculinity” can have on the way a man decides to portray emotion. Cheers to eliminating the perpetuation of toxic masculinity.
I wasn’t too keen on the exercise that I found myself participating in. To begin with, this was a new set of men that I had just acquainted myself with a few weeks prior. But there I found myself, staring eye to eye with a guy that I barely even knew. At that moment, all I knew is that I wanted to hug him…. and that simple desire brought me more shame than I had felt in a long time.
The exercise wasn’t the least bit complex. In fact, I didn’t expect it to trigger the emotions that it did. Yet at that moment, I felt safe and grateful, and I wanted to hug him…. and I wasn’t sure how to feel about that.

Written: Nov. 22, 2019 I wrote this blog in attempts to find clarity and determine personal innovation. I had a few days at the beach to reflect, and I did a follow-up reflection on my initial blog. I made sure to turn in my last assignment for my one class while making sure I was... Continue Reading →
